I've always wondered who and what my guides would be during an astral journey. Many authors have discussed this aspect of astral projection - both the upside and the downside.
One thing I've learned recently from about six books focusing on mostly the afterlife (psychics, mediums, monks, NDE, etc) is that you must meditate, pray or focus on asking positive guides to help you on your journey. I've read it time and again - ask for help and you will receive.
An example comes from Robert Peterson's 'Lessons Out of the Body' - "Then I looked to my right and saw 'Him.' It was 'the master.' He looked about forty years old.... I knew I had seen him before, although I couldn't pin down when or where. I remember seeing him lift a fully grown man with one hand....I was one of his many students and apprentices...."
Masters seem to appear when you need and ask for help. But, does that always mean an out of body experience is positive? Robert Peterson goes on to note that you can run into other spirits who are not quite so positive. "I came out of my body and was propelled forward...Around me were objects and people. The people I saw didn't look evil, but they didn't look friendly either....They looked dirty....The nearest man looked like he was prepared to fight me. He looked mean and hostile and I could tell by the people's postures and facial expressions that I was being accosted by an astral lynch mob."
From Llewellyn comes this note - "It is true that in a small minority of instances people have reported negative experiences in the astral realm. A few have encountered sinister forms and some even claim to have engaged in psychic combat with them. "No sooner had this unseen force lifted me a few feet than it suddenly hurled me back into myself and I came to," Robert A. Reese wrote of his experience in Fate magazine. "It seemed that something hideous was trying to overpower me."
My advice? Head right back into your body - don't let any negativity get in your way and always ask for positive light or guidance.

I really like what you said: "ask and you will receive." I think there are countless beings out there who are happy and willing to help us... as well as old friends that we may have made over our previous incarnations.
ReplyDeleteI've vaguely felt positive forces helping me before, but nothing definite. I think I'll take your advice and just ASK!
If I get any good results, I'll mention it on my blog!
I have definitely met my share of bad guys out of body. I have posted my journal online for your review at http://louisobe.com
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this was a contact with Angels as I have read that dream is one of the many ways they communicate with us.
ReplyDeleteBefore engaging in any intentional out of body exploration it is important to, first, be spiritually purified and dedicated to the highest good. If you are spiritually purified (something that can be achieved via long-term selfless service or karma yoga) then when you enter into the spiritual planes, you can quickly rise to a high vibrational level where dark entities do not dwell and cannot enter. Beyond purifying your chakras or energy bodies, it is important to practice fearlessness in your daily life. This will help you travel out of body without hazard. However, if you have not overcome your earthly fears (which many of us have not), you can still transit through the realms where dark entities dwell if you are very powerful within your innermost Self. Are you inwardly powerful, or are you entirely estranged from your heart-space and your boundless spiritual nature? It is my contention that, if you are inwardly strong and spiritually inspired, you can actually practice facing fear by entering the astral plane itself and facing the dark entities that dwell there. Again, to do this, you must be very strong within your own inner essence - at the core of your being. Otherwise, to do this, you must have an ally, such as "The Holy Spirit," an "angel" or a powerful, virtuous "spiritual guide" to lead your way. The "Holy Spirit" is interesting in itself, as, in truth, it dwells within you. So you can call upon the "Holy Spirit" (from within) and it can work miracles for you, even in the astral plane. Call upon Jesus, or simply call upon the vibration of love, and even that can help you fend off dark entities. Most of all, know your invincibility and then you don't have to run from any darkness. - - - Of course, you are thinking, "But, I am not invincible!" - - - - But, are you sure of this? Or is it a lifetime of absorbing societally-generated fear messages that has led you to believe that you are weak and vulnerable? Let us not forget what the great sages have told us: "With God, all things are possible." And since all mystics know that God dwells within, then, in truth, your possibilities are limitless! You can fly anywhere and accomplish just about anything if you know who you are!
ReplyDeleteLastly, I will say this - If you are a coward, or if you are inwardly weak, best to stay out of the astral plane, as the goblins will eat you if they are in the mood for a mealtime snack!! - - - - Good luck!
Nice Blog, one of the good post on Astral Projection that I know is Astral Projection Forum
ReplyDeleteGreat topic! Guides are definitely helpful, though I don't necessarily agree with the above about negativity. We seem to get what we look for in the astral. The fear people have about projecting so often prevents them!
ReplyDeleteIn case you're interested, I wrote an article about the ease of projecting at http://liminalpulse.com/how-to-astral-project-the-easy-way/
I have never seen any other entities when astral projecting. I have seen plenty when lucid dreaming but during astral projection I see regular people but they are unaware of me. Typically, when I rollout I glance at my sleeping body and my wife sleeping. I then explore space, etc but I never stumble upon other awake or aware people.

ReplyDeleteRead astral traveller of 36 years, Stefanie S Darrell's book Seven Glorious Days in Heaven.... Extraordinary book about the higher purpose of astral travels and the teaching of an ascending master!
ReplyDeleteAstral travel is a tricky thing, I had not realized I have been doing it since I was a child until I got older! I have had so many experiences, only a very small percentage are listed on my blog that I started just the other day to be able to document all that I have gone through, I plan to add more of past and current experiences as time goes by. In my travels I have experienced some negative entities and no I wasn't consciously looking for them and while I am still trying to investigate exactly what it is I am encountering/experiencing I am leaning towards these negative experiences in the Astral being clearings/healings that can only be done while in Astral, you see your soul accumulates a lot of energy while you are awake that is not so suitable for you, much of this energy can be cleaned off during meditation or reiki but some of it leaves residue and this is where your unconscious takes over and does the work for you. For example like in a dream I posted in my dream blog about my wolf soul lesson, I learned a great deal from that astral experience!
ReplyDeleteAchieving Astral Projection is easy. Go to sleep as you normally do, but set an alarm to wake you up in 4 hours. When the alarm goes off, get up and read a book for 30 minutes. After that, go back to bed and lay down on your back. That's pretty much it - it will take up to an hour to fall back asleep, but once you do, your mind will remain awake and you will end up in a sleep paralysis. You might experience vibrations, noises, etc, but it should lead AUTOMATICALLY to astral projection. It's easy...
ReplyDeletevery interesting i have always had positive experiences while astral projecting, haven't had any negative demons, or creatures yet.. its always fun reading different experiences and stories.
ReplyDeleteNice article, why wouldn't you write some new ones? I miss this blog.
ReplyDeleteI am back! Life took some twists and turns for the last 5 years. But, in 2016 I am going back to my astral projection work. Thanks!
Deletealways intresting to see another person's view on astral projection
ReplyDeleteAstral projection is honestly pretty easy to do. Like riding a bike, it's one of those things that seems really hard to find your balance on at first, and then once you do it, you never forget. There are different techniques that can make it easier to get into that state and know what the heck you're supposed to do once you get into the astral, but... anyone who tells you that it takes some special quality to astral project is full of it.
