Astral Projection Testimonial

This comes from the amazing testimonials of Dr. Riblet Hout, a osteopathic doctor from Indiana. He was blessed with an amazing amount of psychic abilities that he tried very hard to hide in order to protect his profession. Yet, he was a healer and astral traveler who could communicate with spirits.

I'm currently reading his memoirs and found this interesting story:

"I first placed myself in a comfortable position in an easy chair that I usually use for my experiences, in the locked study, and sat back for a few minutes of reverie and relaxation....So, I sat back resting, my eyes closed in this comfortable chair, and George [a spirit guide] appeared instantly at my side, just as soon as I had relaxed and had beguy to breathe deeply and rhythmically.

Simply and easily, and almost suddenly but nearly inperceptibly, I felt myself drawn out of my body, through my head, at the back of my neck.

This time I was surrounded by light - bright light - all about me, and a feeling of power, a feeling of energy, surging through everything. And this particular time, no force was needed to jerk me free from physical bonds.

And then I floated vertically and easily upward, out and away from that physical room. After a brief sensation of drifting upward, I found myself in a new but very natural environment. I seemed to be in a grove or park which extended as far as I could see. All was beauty, symmetry, and naturalness....I found myself in the center of a circle of trees; I was sitting in a comfortable chair....And then I sat up and looked and watched the approaching spirits with interest. They came closer, and I was both elated and surprised when I recognized them. The were old, almost-forgotten friends from my old hometown. And they were coming up to greet me.

And in this peaceful setting my glance instinctively took me down to the path, toward which all the others were looking, and there comingg radiantly toward me in all the etheric presence, walked my arisen mother....My being fully blended with hers, and this moment seemed the supreme happiness of my existence."

Astral Projection Using the Christos Technique

I stumbled across this method of Astral Projecting the other day. This technique requires three people to get setup. One person is the subject and will be prepared by the other two. The goal is to use physical techniques in combination with imagry to induce the OBE.It begins with the projector lying down on his or her back in low or darkly lit room. The two helpers adjust themselves to be positioned at the subject's head and feet. The helpers use a fairly rough touch to disorient and create a warm sensation on the forehead's third eye while holding him/her down at the ankles. The forehead is rubbed over and over for 5 to 10 minutes giving the projector a humming / vibrating feeling. This is done until the subject's skin tingles and he/she starts to feel unusually light.

At this point the projector tires to use imagery to visualize his / her feet stretching out - longer and longer, slowly by an inch or two. Once this feeling is reached the same exercise is repeated with the head - stretching out as well. This visualized motion is repeated over and over until the imagined distance is about two feet. The goal is to finally visualize both at once and feel your astral body swelling to the size of the room. As the subject progresses this can take as long as he/she wants until the desired result is completed.

Now the subject should imaging himself/herself outside the front door of the building they are in and attempt to describe everything they see from colors, shapes, objects, sizes, etc. Slowly the projector should rise up and attempt to visualize/see the surrounding city or landscape. Next, the subject should attempt to alter the visualized scene by imagine day turning into night, having the sun rise and set and turning lights on and off. The last step is to attempt to float off to another visualized land of the subject's choosing. The goal at this point is to have very vivid imagery so detailed that anything can be described in detail.

At any time the projector can stop and come back, relax and take some time to get back to a normal state. If repeated over time this can create an effective way of strengthening imagery and visualization while guiding oneself to a stronger astral projection.

This technique was devised by G. M. Glasking, an Australian journalist.

Astral Projection Through Hypnosis

Visualizing the Astral Target

One key ingredient to progressing your astral skills is improving your target visualization. A number of authors have suggested that desire and the right kind of visualization stimulate the force centers and openings to the astral realms.

To do this it is important that your target be well known and a non threatening location. Many times just another room in your home will suffice. Pick an object that you really feel a connection to or a strong desire to see. As you relax into the first deeper states of consciousness hold that desire and visualize the object. This will draw your consciousness toward it. If you are new to projecting then find a location close to your body to ease the separation and newly discovered feelings.

Note that many authors have written that your astral vision will not be the same as physical reality. Keeping that in mind will help you understand what you see when visualizing the target - the target may be distorted, flow, ebb, glow, etc.

An Astral Bubble

Received this report from a blog reader:

Last night I had an experience where I felt paralyzed. I wa sinside a bubble, above earth, miles high. I was surrounded by darkness, but... I kept hearing beautiful voices of children singing beautifully. There seemed to be hundreds of them, not around, but I could hear them in my mind. I streched my hand to touch the bubble and it wobbled. Then, I tried moving around in the bubble whereas, the bubble itself moved with me and I could "see" the darkness around me and discern a figure that seemed to be the earth--in the far distance. I could control the direction! I then, decided to break free from the paralysis (I alway do that whenI feel uncomfortable) and woke up, but my eyelids were too heavy and had a hard time keeping awake; so I moved my body for about 5 minutes and then, went back to sleep.

First Level of Astral Projection

I've been collecting accounts of what the first level of projection is like for the experiencers. There seems to be a very thin veil of reality that bridges our waking state from the first moments of leaving the body. The perception of the physical objects definitely have form yet there are unusual differences:

"..it was night time and the bedroom light was off, however the whole room seemed to be bathed in a greyish 'light'. Secondly, although I could see that I was in the natural surroundings of my bedroom, the ceiling was perhaps three or four times higher than it should have been"
http://www.paralumun.com/astralreal.htm

"When astral traveler lngo Swann is out of his body, he often does not see normal objects, which look to him like 'the forms of certain light rays and
ionization of the air around changing light sources,'"
http://www.llewellynencyclopedia.com/article/201

"After exiting my body I moved through the wall and floated out into the rain drenched night. What a gloriously wet feeling that was. I could feel and taste the cool rain and blustering wind passing through me. The smell of rain and wetness was everywhere, seeming to fill me with a bright and happy energy. I floated up to the roof and sat on the chimney, looking out over the town. I felt a little bit like a very wet Mary Poppins. I watched the rain dancing over the roofs and streets, swirling through gutters and gurgling into drains."

Astral Technique - Willing Yourself Out of Your Body

Can you really will yourself out of your body? The concept of dynamic willing was one of the first written techniques of astral travel by a French occult researcher, Charles Lancelin. The book, Methodes de Dedoublement Personnel, written in 1908 describes the techniques of concentrated willing may be one of the best ways to induce an OBE. This technique has been somewhat overshadowed in various popular books on the topic mainly due to newer means of spirit travel via meditation, proper body position and time of day. Focused will, according to Lancelin, seems to drive the person to spontaneous OBEs.

Sylvan Muldoon found that conscious will really seemed to be a form of suggestion to unconscious desire if focused long enough. With enough suggestion being part of your conscious focus you can find yourself spontaneously leaving your body. Now, will may not be enough. However, it may lead to greater ability in the future.

From many of the sources that I have read, having a strong affinity or emotion for the destination of your OBE is critical for the novice traveler. Perhaps the home you grew up in or someone you have strong emotions for can be the target to finally lift you out. I sense that many times the first OBE is a startling experience without a travel from source to destination – just suddenly being somewhere and knowing that you’re in the astral or hyper special world!

Buzzing, Clicking, Vibrations in the Hypnagogic State

I know I can attest that when you are nearing what is called the 'Hypnagogic state' - the state of being between asleep and awake - you can start to feel odd vibrations and sound within your head. From all of the literature I have read on the subject of Astral Projection almost all sources state that this state is the crucial moment to leave the body. Many times this is preceded by sounds in the head - a kind of buzzing sensation that feels oddly like someone is stretching a rubber band from your head and plucking it with a sudden feeling of falling back on your pillow. There are other cases where people hear a sound like chimes or bells just at the moment of unconsciousness. Others hear things like 'horrendous gushing sounds', 'weird ringing/buzzing noises', 'rushing to roaring up to sounds in the upper frequency scale like whistling', and 'very low hum, like a fog horn'.

Mantras and Projection

I have been doing a bit of research lately on how to induce an astral experience using mantras. Now, what are mantras you might ask? A mantra is a sacred verbal formula or combination of syllables that is repeated over and over again and which has religious or spiritual significance. The use of mantras derives from Hinduism, the word itself deriving from the Sanskrit word 'man' which means 'to think'. The sounds are supposed to mirror the source of all things and the original movements of creation. Although mantras often has devotional significance, they are also used as a meditative tool for developing concentration and removing the noise of day-to-day life within the mind. Many different sounds have been used as simple mantra including the word 'Buddha' to help keep the mind concentrated.

Tibetan monks used very elaborate and systemized techniques to invoke a OBE within the practitioner. Yoga, Tantric Buddhism and Cabalism all have forms of ritual chanting that scholars and witnesses say lead to systems of leaving the body. Cuno Muller described a mantra practice in Die andere Welt that describes a mantra method - a recitation of letter combinations: DC, CK, EF, EK, BF, CR, DR, EB, BD, BN and CU. The first set of 4 are repeated for 5 minutes and the second set of 7 recited for 10 minutes in a cycle of seven repetitions. The only problem with Muller's information is that the exact pronunciations are not given and it is assumed that the combinations are in Hebrew. So, the combination would be daleph-chaf/chaf-kaf/(e)fay/(e)kaf beth-fay/chaf-rash/daleph-rash/(e)beth/beth-daleph/beth-noon/chaf(u). What is exact pronunciation is a mystery.

Other mantras exist as well and there are many documented cases of strange and enlightening effects from this practice. Any comments on this would be appreciated.
